Fixing Loose Threads
Mougee Star
Over time, all flow stars may develop a few loose threads, and the Mougee Star is no exception. However, this is usually a minor issue that does not affect the look or performance of your star. Here’s how you can fix it:
Methods for Fixing Loose Threads
1. Using a Lighter (Best Method)
The best way to fix a loose thread is by melting the end with a lighter. This slightly enlarges the tip of the broken thread, preventing it from pulling out further.
Steps:
• Set the lighter to low flame.
• Slowly move the flame toward the thread.
• Burn the thread all the way down.
• Lightly press the burned end with the side of the lighter to flatten and seal it.
2. Using Glue
Another option is to cut the thread at the base and apply a tiny drop of crazy glue to seal the hole.
Steps:
• Cut the loose thread as close to the fabric as possible.
• Use a needle or matchstick to apply a tiny drop of glue (avoid applying directly from the tube to prevent excess).
• Allow the glue to dry completely before handling.
3. Cutting It Off and Ignoring It
In most cases, you can simply snip the loose thread and move on. Given the yards of thread used in making a flow star, a missing inch or two is unlikely to cause issues.
When Is a Loose Thread a Problem?
If a significant amount of thread has come loose—especially on the webbing or edges—you may notice fabric separation. In this case, you may need to sew it back up by hand or with a machine.

What Causes Loose Threads?
1. Fingernail Damage
Many loose thread issues occur due to the way you flow—particularly if you have sharp fingernails. Being mindful of how your nails move across the threads can help prevent breakage.
2. Playing with a Wet Star
If your Mougee Star gets very wet and you continue playing hard with it, the added weight of the water can put stress on the threads, potentially leading to breaks. Using a little water to help add grip to your star is not a problem, we are referring to saturated stars.
3. Tug-of-War
Avoid tugging or pulling on your Mougee Star excessively. Remember, Mougee offers plenty of high-quality flow stars—so no need to fight over them! Pulling hard on your star can definitely break threads.
4. Dogs Love Mougee Stars
Dogs love Mougee Stars, but unfortunately, they can’t quite get the flow going! Out of frustration, they may chew or tear at the fabric. While it’s a small price to pay for your pup’s companionship, playing catch with your dog using a Mougee Star is highly discouraged.
We hope this was helpful. If you have other issues with your Mougee Star of have another way of fixing loose threads you’d like to suggest, please email us at help@Mougee.com.
